Tim Sonnefeld is a Record Producer, Songwriter, Engineer, Arranger and Multi-Instrumentalist from Philadelphia, PA.

During college at the University of the Arts in Center City Philadelphia, his band Townhall was BRIEFLY signed to RCA records. They had a successful touring and recording career from 2000-2007, during which time Tim found himself in the recording studio with some great producers and engineers. He realized that was where he belonged.

He started producing local acts and friends, and in 2007 he produced, arranged, engineered, and played guitar and B3 organ on The Dixie Hummingbirds GRAMMY™ nominated album “Last Man Standing.”

Just two years later, Tim had the good fortune to work on Usher’s 2010 release “Raymond vs. Raymond,” which took home the GRAMMY™ for Best Contemporary R&B Album.

Tim stayed in Philly for 5 more years working at MilkBoy The Studio on dozens of records including Roots-member side projects and an EP with fellow Philadelphian Sharon Little.

In 2015, he took the plunge and moved to Los Angeles. Tim works with lots of acts at studios all across LA. He also operates Redstar Recording with David Kalish. At Redstar he has been lucky enough to work with artists such as Rancid, Ben Harper, Rocco Deluca, Marilyn McCoo, Billy Davis, Pomplamoose, and Elvis Costello. Tim worked on some tracks on Elvis Costello and the Imposters’ 2019 GRAMMY™ winning album “Look Now.”
